In a manual transmission car drive it in a higher gear. 10. Don't top off the tank when filling to avoid spillage and evaporation. 11. Keep the car out of the heat of the sun in order to avoid gas evaporation. 12. Drive slower, and avoid fast accelerations. 13. Keep your car's engine tuned up, and changing the oil regularly. 14. Make sure your air filter is clean. 15. Keep your tires aligned and their pressure at the optimum level. 16. Unload the car of anything heavy. 17. Buy a hybrid, or a fuel efficient vehicle. Before making this decision make sure to find out if the increased price tag is going to pay itself off in the long run. Due to the supply and demand many car companies are jacking up the prices, and most of them won't see real savings for about 5-10 years after purchase. 18. If your car has a diesel engine, then look into switching it to running off vegetable oil.
